Xerox Solid Ink.?
We use a Xerox 8550 and uses solid ink (a kind of colored pencils, etc..) Some providers refilled cartridges at half the price of Xerox. Xerox says that aftermarket products will damage the machine and perhaps even invalidate warranty. Does anyone know the real story on these things?
The real story is that Xerox may, at its discretion to say no to the warranty if they can prove that the pieces of wax caused the problem. The only problem I can see is if the source of the wax is not pure enough, can end up with clogged jets. We have about 15 of these printers in our school district and the problems we had is with the traffic jams do not exist. All questions have generally been set by a Color Printer cleaning the cleaning utility. We have not had experience with alternative inks, we use Xerox color pencils, so it is a gamble you. If you are out of warranty, go for it.
