Why are some 3D glasses different?
On most 3D films, atleast the modern ones you are given 3D glasses odviously but these ones don’t have the red and cyan lenses they are just darker lenses like sun glasses, these glasses don’t work on images that use the red and cyan idea. why are they different? which is better?
The dark tinted 3d glasses are polarized 3d. Now that has been used for all 3d movie releases (unless you go back further than say 1945), even in the 1950′s 3d movies used polarized. Jaws 3d in 1983 was polarized at the theaters. Now the red and blue 3d is used for other situations that polarized can’t be used. This would be televisions and monitors and 3d comic books. The red and blue doesn’t look nearly as good as polarized becuase the 3d effect is harder to see and it just really distorts the colors of the movie. There is field sequencial that is 3d for the older tube televisions that looks like polarized. It has been around for several years but you have to get a convertor box and the glasses and field sequecial dvds to use it. I don’t know of anything right now for plama or lcd, but I have read that field seqencial will work with them sometimes but it is kind of hit and miss. They are planning to start making 3d televisions in the near future.
