Canon MPC190 has suddenly stopped printing anything. Do I need a new printhead?
Goes “through the motions” of printing but paper is totally blank.
Inktanks are OK. No error messages on display. 3 yrs old but lightly used. Printhead clean and refresh make no difference.
A new printhead costs about the same as a whole new scanner/printer, hence not tried replacing it yet.
Run a bunch of cleaning. about a dozen, yes it does use a lot of ink, however if not done the printer is junk anyhow. If after about a dozen cleanings you see no improvement then it is time to replace the Print Head.
I would really think twice about replacing the entire unit. Yes the print head is about $70, however it does come with both cartridges, and the cartridges themselves are low cost to replace. You will most likely see a greater saving in replacing the print head than going to a new printer.
The average set of cartridges cost anywhere from $50 -120. Yours are sitting around $30.
